GTA 6 Online launch update leaves fans divided

This could be a bad decision

With the news that Grand Theft Auto VI Online could be sold as a standalone game, fans have been receiving the update with something of a mixed outlook.

As a result of a leak by Rockstar insider Tez2, we now know that the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI and its online component could be sold as two separate games.

Check out the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

We reported on this news just yesterday but put simply, GTA VI could be split into two editions: one would just include GTA VI Online whereas the other would be a “complete” version with both the base game and online mode.

Furthermore, Tez2 claimed that GTA VI Online would be released alongside the base game on launch, unlike with Grand Theft Auto V when Online followed two weeks later.

Although this has not been confirmed by Rockstar, fans are still feeling divided over the potential and have taken to r/GamingLeaksAndRumours to share their thoughts.

Benjammin172 wrote, “If this is true, then there’s no chance that it’s beneficial to consumers. Seems like a weird thing to celebrate.”

“As someone who hated GTA Online, it would be nice if this made the download size for the base game smaller,” CarlWellGraves commented.

With the two editions possibly being the work of Take-Two Interactive, it didn’t take long for eager players to express their thoughts on the publisher.

“It’s Take Two, when were they ever beneficial to consumers after GTA V’s release?” user supah_saiyen wrote.

“They saw idiots in droves buying Shark Cards in an online mode where they put almost no effort in. Cancelled all DLCs for V and delayed GTA VI by a decade. They lawsuit down every mod that gains popularity, and triple dip on releasing a game on five different platforms."

They continued, "The crazy part is that it works for them because of how popular GTA is. People will eat it up. People will still buy GTA VI Online because of how popular and supported GTA V Online was.”

It remains to be seen if Tez2 is correct.
