There is just under a year to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is finally released into the world and after a decade long wait, it is safe to say that fans are ready.
It is hard to believe that we have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI for well over a decade considering that the previous instalment, Grand Theft Auto V, was released way back in 2013.
With the Grand Theft Auto series capturing hearts since its inception back in 1997, many of us have grown up with the crime-filled video game series and having to wait this long for a brand-new entry has been painful to say the least.

However, with GTA VI set to be released on 26 May 2026, the end is in sight, but in the meantime, fans have one question about the game that may cause some upset during launch.
How long will GTA VI’s loading times be?
This question was asked over on r/GTA6 and it is perhaps unsurprising considering that we all remember how long loading screens took back in GTA V.
Many of us still have those loading screen images burned into our brains but hopefully, with technology having come a long way, this will not be the case for GTA VI.

“Didn't V take super long to load until someone modified it and Rockstar took notice and improved the game?” the top comment reminded us.
However, user OakleyNoble had a more fact-based approach.
“With SSDs being the standard in consoles, load times are going to be much faster as we have seen with GTA V from Xbox One to Xbox Series X,” they explained.
“But also we have to accommodate for all the extra computer power this game will need and so rather than a few minutes like how GTA V started, I’d say it’ll take about 30 seconds to a minute to load.”

For user BredBul, they are thinking quite differently when it comes to potential loading speeds.
“What bothers me is if it will take five to 15 secs, we won't have enough time to listen to a loading soundtrack and to watch that beautiful art. When I was playing GTA IV, I wanted it to load for longer, so I can enjoy that beautiful music.”
It remains to be seen how much of our lives we will spend in the loading screens for GTA VI but hopefully the wait will be worth it.
