GTA 6 'leaked gameplay trailer' sure looks familiar

Footage claiming to be from GTA 6 sure looks familiar

GTA VI fans are beginning to lose their minds, and some of the sneakier corners of the internet aren't exactly helping the situation.

As I'm sure you're all-too aware, much of last week was spent waiting for the long-rumoured GTA VI trailer to drop on either Tuesday 24 October or Thursday 26 October. At the time of writing, said GTA VI trailer has yet to be released by Rockstar Games.

Take a look at everything we know about GTA VI below!

Incredibly, in the interim, some YouTubers have started sharing 'leaked gameplay trailers' for GTA VI that sure look familiar. And they're not familiar because they have anything at all to do with the leaked footage from last year.

In short, multiple YouTubers have decided to start taking gameplay clips from the recently released Alan Wake II, passing it off as footage of GTA VI. The latest survival horror from Remedy is, admittedly, an absolute banger - and gorgeous too - but it is most definitely not a new Grand Theft Auto game.

One such video shows one of Alan Wake II's protagonists exploring the Washington town of Bright Falls, which looks absolutely nothing like Vice City. While I'd hope most of you would be able to tell the two games apart, consider this your heads up that your friends who might not be aware of Alan Wake II could fall for this rotten trick.

And as lame as it is to try and pass off one game as another, it is a testament to just how staggeringly gorgeous Alan Wake II is that any old YouTube account can simply take gameplay of it, unedited, and pretend it's footage from one of the most anticipated and, if rumours are to be believed, advanced video games ever made. Basically, go play Alan Wake II. It's nothing like GTA VI, but it slaps.
