With Grand Theft Auto VI being one of the most anticipated games of all time, it is no wonder that fake leaks hit the internet on a daily basis.

However, one such “gameplay leak” that went viral online earlier this month has been officially debunked as the Youtuber behind it comes forward.

Check out the OFFICIAL trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

For those who believed the leak (which wasn’t many), they saw a small area of Vice City as our brand-new protagonist Lucia approached a purple Coquette and drove off. All in first-person.

The video went viral but it wasn’t long before hardcore Grand Theft Auto VI fans debunked the short video, pointing out the many flaws involved.

We may never know the reason why so called fans post fake leaks online but for this one, it came at the hands of Youtuber 12th Hour.

Hosting over one million followers on his channel and known for using his development skills to remake and remaster all of our favourite games, 12th Hour’s latest project was to trick the internet with a fake GTA VI leak.

We now know the truth thanks to a new video posted to his channel which shows exactly how he managed to create the viral video.

From scrolling through random streets in Miami to pick the perfect location, to purchasing a “bootleg” Lucia model online, the Youtuber spent many days creating the video in an attempt to make it go viral.

There is no denying that a lot of effort went into this but it was soon ridiculed by fans despite reaching over seven million views.

The video was recently discussed over on r/GTA6 and it seemed the general consensus was to be confused over who believed it at all.

“Wait did people actually think this was real lmao,” the top comment read.

Another said: “Literally NO ONE except little kids got tricked by this.”

With Grand Theft Auto VI just a year away, let us hope for a second official trailer so we no longer have to deal with these “hilarious pranks”.
