GTA 6 fans slam new announcement from Rockstar Games

Fans have finally reached their wit's end with Rockstar Games' "marketing drought" for GTA 6

You guys remember that game about stealing cars and shooting stuff? I think maybe it was called Grand Theft Auto VI?

Well, don’t worry if its existence slipped your mind, because I’m pretty sure Rockstar Games has forgotten that it exists too.

Another week, another lack of any kind of official GTA VI-related announcements from either Rockstar Games or Take-Two.

Oh, but wait! They just revealed that you can... earn double rewards on GTA Online’s original heists.

Look, I’m not trying to rag on the poor folks that run Rockstar Games’ social accounts. They don’t get to decide what content gets posted there, and they don’t deserve your ire for simply doing their job, but the comments on that post are rough.

The people (if you can call them that) on Twitter aren’t the only ones getting impatient though, as a recent thread on the r/GTA6 subreddit detailing Rockstar Games’ refusal to market the game is full of frustrated comments.

“I feel you. I'm also not sure what Rockstar is trying to do. Maybe they just want to be certain about the release date, because they will probably give us that information with the second trailer,” commented user Mister_Frowdo.

“If we have no updates after the 6 May, I guess we can expect the game to be delayed. I can't really see the logic of advertising a game in the short time span of four months before the release, unless Rockstar thinks that this might be a good tactic, which I highly doubt is plausible.”

GTA VI still only has one trailer.

“It has reached saturation point in terms of people’s patience,” replied user Beginning-Rip-2352.

“I’m a GTA veteran and I was fanatical about the 3D Universe. Have enjoyed IV and V and it takes a lot for me to say this but I couldn’t give a s**t about VI at this point.”

I’m usually not on board with the commenters in threads like this over on r/GTA6, but I kind of think they have a point for once.

I get that Rockstar Games only want to show off a second trailer for the game when they’re absolutely 100% certain that they can meet the release window they’ve set for themselves, but this refusal to actually communicate with their fanbase isn’t earning them any goodwill.

And the closer we get to the end of the year without anything to show for it, the more concerned the fanbase continues to become. I think if we don’t see anything by the end of June, at least, then it’s fair to start assuming GTA VI is delayed.
