
Finally, Rockstar Games has announced a solid release date for the highly anticipated GTA VI, and we couldn't be happier.
Rockstar Games revealed the first trailer for GTA VI in December 2023, and nearly a year-and-a-half later, a release date has followed; fans of the Grand Theft Auto series have had to be very patient.
When Rockstar Games revealed the first trailer for GTA VI, we were given the vague launch window of 2025. However, release date delays are always likely, especially when it comes to Rockstar Games, regardless of whether it's Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption.

To no surprise whatsoever, Rockstar Games has announced that GTA VI has been delayed. That being said, with Rockstar Games, proof is in the pudding when it comes to making the most of extra development time.
“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026,” tweeted Rockstar Games. “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team.”

“We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception.”
The statement concluded: “We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon. Sincerely, Rockstar Games.”

“So many other games will finally announce their Q3/Q4 release dates now,” said ShiinaBR, suggesting that publishers will want to avoid GTA VI.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the time of writing, a PC version hasn't been announced.
