GTA 6 Can Wait, This Alternative Lets You Fly Around the Real Vice City

The real deal

By purchasing a copy of Grand Theft Auto VI you’ll also be buying yourself a ticket to Vice City, but you can actually get there earlier than planned.

As we all know the iconic Grand Theft Auto location will be returning in GTA VI but will have its borders expanded, much like what was done with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto V. Quick side-bar but it always annoyed me that we lost the other islands from San Andreas when Los Santos was blown up in scale…

Anyway, GTA VI players will get to explore more than just Vice City; they'll also be able to explore the fictional state of Leonida, based on real-life Florida.

While we wait for the game’s current release date of 19 November 2026 though you should know that you can sort of explore GTA VI’s map early, in a different game entirely.

We hadn’t thought of this but because of Rockstar Games’ keen eye for detail, snippets of GTA VI’s map can be found in any game that attempts to replicate Miami, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The flight sim was released on PlayStation 5 last week and some Grand Theft Auto fans have taken the opportunity to get a birds-eye view of what’ll likely be the map for the next game, though of course some creative liberties will be taken like in previous games.

A gameplay clip by Reddit user Arvosss looks almost identical to one of the shots from the first GTA VI trailer, showing just how detailed Rockstar’s next open-world is going to be.

Rockstar always does its homework when it comes to crafting its open-worlds, and while the size and scale of certain builds and cities needs to be changed slightly things are usually where they would be in real-life.

Of course if you want a closer romp through Vice City you can always just load up GTA: Vice City…

You can either play the original or the updated and “improved” definitive version, though the latter isn’t worth your time in my humble opinion.

GTA VI is taking so long that gamers are trying to play it early by diving into other games featuring Miami.

I’d say let’s hope that it’s worth it but given that Rockstar is making it I’m sure it will be.

GTA VI will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on 19 November 2026.
