GTA 6 fans are marking their calendars for 12 December

To be fair, this one does make more sense than the "Moon Theory"

Geoff Keighley just made the mistake of featuring a 0.5-second long snippet of Grand Theft Auto VI in a new trailer, which has caused the GTA community to desperately assume that the fabled “Trailer 2” for Rockstar Games’ upcoming title is imminent.

Last night, Geoff Keighley posted this on Twitter. It’s a little compilation trailer that features almost every game that’s nominated at the upcoming The Game Awards this Friday (or, Thursday, if you live in America).

At the 0:13 mark in the trailer, there’s a tiny little segment from Grand Theft Auto VI’s Trailer 1 that dropped just over a year ago.

Which makes perfect sense. Grand Theft Auto VI is nominated for the Most Anticipated Game award. That’s why The Game Awards featured it in their trailer. Right, guys?

In a thread titled “We are getting the trailer December 12th at the game awards” over on the r/GTA subreddit, fans have taken to wildly speculating that this means the second GTA VI trailer will definitely, 100% drop at The Game Awards and that there is no possible alternative explanation (lord please help these fellas).

“Let’s be real. I know everyone is bitter from the drought but the reality is, the window for the release of VI has officially dwindled to MONTHS now in conjunction with Rockstars official “coming Fall 2025” statement,” commented Neo92Boi, “so a full press release and 2nd trailer are almost nonnegotiable at this point.”

“They either release SOMETHING about VI from here to at least early February or the shareholders are going to become concerned and T2 are gonna have to finally play daddy on Rockstar.”

Alright, I think it’s time we all collectively chilled out a little. A trailer for GTA VI could drop at The Game Awards, yes, but this little feature in the trailer is not proof of that.

And, while we’re on the subject, Rockstar Games’ shareholders do not care that there isn’t a second trailer. Do you know why?

Because you guys are advertising the game for them with all this wild, never-ending speculation.

I assure you that the second you reign it in, Rockstar will drop a trailer. Until that point, you’re just doing the advertising team’s jobs for them.

But hey, at least you guys aren’t losing it over the shape of the moon anymore…
