Grand Theft Auto V players who are still on the last-gen version of the game are now entitled to a free new-gen upgrade.
As Rockstar Games prepares to release Grand Theft Auto VI in November, the final set of updates for GTA V are due to take place over the summer.
With Grand Theft Auto V players being split across three different generations, getting as many people as possible onto the current generation is Rockstar's priority ahead of the sequel's release.
Beginning today, players who own any version of Grand Theft Auto V on PS4, or a digital Xbox One version, are able to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S versions at no additional cost, allowing them to experience the current-gen versions ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto VI in November.

These versions of the games include many technical improvements, such as higher frame-rates and resolutions, as well as other features like faster loading times and better texture quality.
There's also easy migration of your progress in Story Mode and Online, with new features like Hao's Special Works also bringing high-performance vehicles and upgrades alongside career progress rewards.
Meanwhile, if you're on PC you can also get these updates by upgrading to the Enhanced Edition of Grand Theft Auto V for free.
This version of the game also has some features which are specific to the PC version only, like ray traced ambient occlusion and global illumination.

Finally, Rockstar Games has also added Grand Theft Auto V's Story Mode to all GTA+ subscriptions, allowing members to access it alongside GTA Online as part of the GTA+ Games Library.
Other games included in GTA+ include Red Dead Redemption, Bully, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition, and L.A. Noire.
In addition to this, Rockstar Games has also revealed the summer update for GTA Online, which will introduce the The Kortz Center Heist.
"Perched on the hills of Pacific Bluffs, the world-famous Kortz Center looms large over the Los Santos cultural scene," Rockstar writes.
"Priceless international works of art have adorned its hallways for years, and now the time has come to raid this prestigious gallery’s esteemed collection for personal gain in The Kortz Center Heist, this summer's exciting new update coming to GTA Online in July.
"To accommodate burgeoning interests in art theft and counterfeiting, you’ll need to add the Art Studio to your Mansion property, then scope out the sprawling Kortz Center complex before choosing an approach for this multi-stage Heist infiltrating and escaping the grounds."
With Grand Theft Auto VI just around the corner, it's very likely that the The Kortz Center Heist will be the final update for GTA Online, until Rockstar is ready to discuss plans for the online component in the next game.
