'God Of War' Officially Announced For PC, Coming To Steam In 2022

Steamy

Well, there it is. Following months of leaks and rumours, Sony has finally confirmed that the epic 2018 PlayStation 4 adventure God Of War is headed to PC. SIE Santa Monica Studio's critically acclaimed reboot will be available via Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 14, 2022.

Take a look at the full announcement below!

For those who don't have a PS4 or generally have zero interest in God Of War as a franchise, the 2018 entry is a reboot/sequel that completely reimagined series protagonist Kratos as a single father struggling with his violent past. Thrown against his will into an epic journey with his young son, Atreus, the pair must explore a realm inspired by Norse mythology and face down powerful enemies along the way. It is, as almost anyone who's played it will tell you, a masterpiece.

No doubt this upcoming PC version will be one of the best ways to play God Of War, as Santa Monica Studio has already teased a number of enhancements.

"Users will be able to enjoy the full potential of our cinematic, no-cut camera as it follows Kratos and Atreus across the realms with the option of true 4k resolution, on supported devices, and unlocked framerates," a press release explains.

"The PC version includes a wide range of graphical presets and options so users can fine-tune their visual experience based on their setup. Alongside the graphic and performance improvements, we are also offering 21:9 ultra-widescreen support."

Honestly, the fact I can play God Of War without making my PS4 sound like it's about to fly to the moon is already a big draw in my book.

"Our primary goal when bringing God of War to PC was to highlight the exceptional content the team created and leverage the powerful hardware that the platform offers to create a uniquely breathtaking and high-performance version of the game," Santa Monica Studio said in a post over the PlayStation Blog.

PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio will have more details to share soon. Hopefully Bloodborne is next up for the old PC treatment, eh?
