Giancarlo Esposito Rumoured To Play One Of The Most Legendary X-Men Characters

Mind over matter.

It wouldn't be a reach to say that Giancarlo Esposito is one of the greatest actors of our era - and that is why it is so exciting to discover that he's been in talks to play one of the most legendary Marvel characters there is.

Esposito has chilled our blood in our veins in a number of his villainous roles, including dictator Antón Castillo in Far Cry 6, and has earned five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his portrayal of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian.

Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactical turn-based take on the comics, is coming in October, with characters like Blade, Captain America, Scarlet Witch and more. Check out the latest trailer here!

Yet, it isn't the twisted morality of these individuals that captivates the actor. “A good villain is a human being. They’re real. Sometimes they feel, empathy and sorrow and sadness,” he explained in an interview with Man Of Many. “I try to create a human being who is struggling in the moment, and isn’t that our lives?”

Matching Esposito's credentials with a Marvel malefactor is a straightforward task, then. Speaking at TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con in San Antonio, Texas, he rattled off a handful of possibilities while confirming that he has had conversations to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I have not worked for Marvel yet," he replied. "I've been in the room with them and talked to them... I'm gonna go for something that's a little bit different. I'm gonna go and put it out in the universe that [I'd like to play] Professor X." Now, that's a casting we'd really, really, really like to see.
