One of the best 2020 game releases may be getting a sequel after a job listing for Ghost of Tsushima 2 has surfaced online.
Sucker Punch’s action-adventure title Ghost of Tsushima was a game of the year contender when it was released in 2020. Telling the story of a samurai on a quest to protect his island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, fans fell in love with its heartbreaking story, stunning visuals and challenging combat. Now three years on and with no confirmation of a sequel despite pleading from fans, good news might be on the horizon with new job listings surfacing online.

It appears as though Sucker Punch is looking to recruit a Senior Combat Designer and Technical Combat Designer who “must have played Ghost of Tsushima and understand its core gameplay systems”. Additionally, candidates will be required to “prototype, polish and balance: Player abilities, combat actions and progression items”. I don’t know about you but I think this could hint at a potential sequel or expansion currently in the works.

As well as these roles, the company is also looking for an AI Systems Designer. The role in question reads, “Sucker Punch has a history of making great characters — from Sly Cooper, Bentley and Murray to Cole, Delsin and Fetch. Most recently, the award winning cast of Ghost Of Tsushima brought new levels of character depth to the Open World genre. We’re looking for someone who understands that to truly make a world come alive it has to be populated with compelling characters.”
With some fans hailing Ghost of Tsushima an “actual masterpiece”, it is no surprise that they are desperate for more. However, with some of Sucker Punch’s developers currently working on a samurai dinosaur game, it may be a while before we see Ghost of Tsushima 2.
