A brand new The Witcher tale featuring Geralt is on its way, and you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on it.

Thank you in advance to Down The Tubes' John Freeman for the original source!

As revealed by both Dark Horse Comics and CD Projekt RED, The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly is a brand new Geralt-centric adventure that features a completely original tale.

Details on what exactly Geralt will be up to in The Bear and the Butterfly are a little light, but Dark Horse was willing to reveal one small tidbit regarding its story.

According to the press release for the comic, it seems Geralt will be facing one of his most dangerous foes yet; another Witcher.

“Geralt travels to a remote town where a vampire is rumoured to be killing the townspeople,” Dark Horse Comics revealed in a press statement on their official website.

“The bounty has amassed all manner of monster hunters—and among them is another witcher, from the school of the Bear, a fierce competitor for the reward.”

ICYMI: The first trailer for The Witcher 4 was dropped at the end of last year.

It’ll be interesting to see exactly how Geralt deals with going up against a fellow Witcher, as he won’t actually be able to harm one of his fellows.

Not only is a Witcher killing another Witcher generally frowned upon, but Geralt has stated a couple of times that he has a no-killing rule when it comes to people. So how exactly does he plan to tussle with a highly skilled fighter, without harming them in the process?

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to find out, as you can get your hands on the first issue of The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly on 23 April 2025.

Here’s hoping this one might actually explain where Geralt’s no-killing rule originated from in the first place…
