Tony Hawk, Pro Skater Reveals His Favourite Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Game

Tony Hawk, Pro Skater Reveals His Favourite Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Game

There's only one right answer.

Tony Hawk, the pro skater known for his beloved video game franchise Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has finally settled an ancient argument and revealed to the world which of the four popular skateboarding games is the best. Yes, I'm aware there's a fifth, but are we not just pretending that one didn't happen?

There's been plenty of debate over the years regarding which Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is the one to rule them all of course, but we can finally put the argument to bed as the man himself has (quite rightly) confirmed that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is the absolute creme of the crop.

Sorry to anyone who ever thought it was Pro Skater 3 or 4, but you were always wrong, I always knew you were wrong, and now we have the proof to back it up.

This comes after Hawk shared what appeared to be his actual phone number on Twitter, encouraging fans to get in touch with him via a new messaging system that he's set up for... some reason. I mean, it's cool that he's willing to engage with fans on such an intimate level, so I'm not gonna question it too much.

It wasn't long before one curious fan asked the obvious question, and Hawk willingly obliged with the cold, hard truth. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is the best one, people. This is now a FACT.

If Tony Hawk himself telling you that Pro Skater 2 is the greatest still isn't enough to convince you, I'd also point you towards Metacritic, where the second game in the series has the best average score by some way, with an impressive 98.

Released in 2000 for the original PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and a bunch of other consoles that it wasn't quite as good on, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 took the formula established in its predecessor and improved upon it in every conceivable way.

It worked in better maps like Hangar, School II, and Skate Heaven, more characters, more secrets to find, a level editor, and a soundtrack that, to this day, slaps harder than it has any goddamn right to.

It also had Spider-Man as a secret unlockable character, which frankly is enough on its own to ensure that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is an unbeatable gem of a game.

Given just how poorly Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was received, it's unlikely that we'll ever see a revival of the franchise anytime soon. However, if Activision was interested in delivering a remaster of one of the games, I think it's clear that it should start with Pro Skater 2.
