This Invisible Custom-Made Nintendo GameCube Is A Collector's Dream

A clear-cut case.

Beyond opening them up for a dust every now and then, I don't suppose many of us stop to look inside our favourite consoles much. That's why this custom Nintendo GameCube case - created entirely from clear acrylic - is so special. It gives us a peek at the good stuff without fear of damaging something important.

"We build a custom clear Nintendo GameCube from acrylic!" Bithead1000 said in the description for the video below (or watch here, if it's not showing), but adds nothing else, which means we're left to guess the reasons why such an idea occurred to them in the first place. Personally, I'm stumped.

Anyway! The 17-minute video shows the entire journey, from carefully extracting the technical bits of a GameCube - who knew there were that many screws, eh? - to exporting the GameCube's electronics to its new, shiny, clear home (thanks, ResetEra, via Nintendo Enthusiast).

Just in case you wondered: yup, it really is worth sticking with all the way to the end, not least because Bithead makes a very complex, technical process look astonishingly easy. They also close out the video with shots of the custom console in the dark, complete with colourful LEDs that show off its glorious innards.

While we're on the topic of consoles, now we have the raw specs for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we recently compared the two to answer the question everyone wants to know: which, really, is more powerful?

As Ewan summarised at the time, both consoles are incredibly powerful of course, and "are leaps and bounds ahead of their predecessors". "We should get some fantastic, never-before-seen experiences on both... and for that, we should be excited regardless of which console we're planning to pick up," he wrote.

Stating "it's almost kind of boring how similar these consoles are on a technical level," Ewan reckons that while the Xbox Series X is the superior console on paper - as well as firmly embracing backwards compatibility, something Sony has yet to do - "which ever console you choose is the right call, as long as you have fun with it". What one is tempting you at the moment?
