PlayStation To Reportedly Reveal Xbox Game Pass Rival Next Week
According to a report, we'll be finding out about PlayStation's overhauled subscription service as soon as next week.
We'll be getting our first look at PlayStation's overhauled subscription service as soon as next week, according to Bloomberg. The new service, which is codenamed Spartacus, is thought to be a direct rival to Xbox Game Pass, in terms of the services and content it'll offer.
As reported by VGC, Spartacus will apparently bring together Sony's two existing services, PS Plus and PS Now, into one delicious package. As well as including the preexisting benefits we already know and (mostly) love, such as free monthly titles and online play, it was also previously rumoured that the new service will include both new titles and retro releases, with plans to add a number of classic PS1 and PS2 titles.

Last month, one insider claimed that much like Game Pass, Spartacus will be broken down into three tiers, "Essential" (coming in at $10/£7), "Extra" ($13/£10), and "Premium" ($16/£12). Supposedly, the cheapest tier will basically just be PS Plus as we already know it, Extra will give you access to a "downloadable game catalogue" (apparently with containing 300 games), and Premium will include "classic games and streaming".
If you've not managed to get your hands on the new-gen PlayStation 5 console yet, fear not - these new services will apparently be available on both PS4 and PS5. This isn't the first time that we've been told Spartacus will be revealed though - it was previously rumoured to be announced at the end of February, so take this update with a pinch of (optimistic) salt.
