'Cyberpunk 2077' Crashes Seconds After Player Earns Platinum Trophy

"It ended as it began, full circle."

If you're a PlayStation trophy collector, you know that there is a difference between finishing a game and finishing a game - what I mean by that is that there are two versions of the idea of completing a title. There is the casual trophy here and there and finishing the main story before putting the disc back in its case and leaving it to gather dust, or just deleting it from your system if you're going full digital this generation. But then there are those that really polish the game off with style.

Ah, the coveted Platinum trophy - the sign that you have seen everything there is to see in a game's world. You can, for example, get a Plat pretty quickly in games like the delightful Astro's Playground, but when you're taking on a game like Cyberpunk 2077 that process is going to be far more arduous.

SoleSurvivorVault18 on Reddit tells the story of completing the journey to Platinum in Cyberpunk 2077, and how happy they felt as the credits rolled before the game crashing - completing what is considered to be "the perfect ending for" the game.

If you're unfamiliar with the Cyberpunk 2077 saga, it's a long story. All you really need to know is that the game on last-gen consoles has really struggled with keeping up with the shiny RTX 30 series graphics cards and next-gen console performances - becoming semi-unplayable on some gamers' rigs. Huge game-breaking glitches and crashes was the experience for many when trying the game for the first time, and so this gamer finishing their journey with a crash feels strangely appropriate.

We thankfully think that the gamer still earned their trophy, so don't worry to much about that, but as it turns out, other players had the same experience. Pyramidofmars on Reddit says, "Crashed during the end credits for me too. It ended as it began, full circle" while another user says "exactly same thing happened to me". It's just amusing that crashes are how the game started and ended for many, even if it's not exactly the experience CDProjekt Red planned.
