Phasmophobia took the streaming and horror gaming world by storm. Out of nowhere, an incredibly engaging multiplayer experience arose from developer Kinetic Games and people loved it.
Fans found it a fresh take on ghost hunting, as it was equal parts mystery and danger. If you're not on your toes about the signs you're seeing, you end up dead, unable to help your friends. But if you're smart enough, you can just about outplay any of the ghouls you could come up against.
And now, as reported by Kotaku, the horror game has been updated to include a new single-player offline mode for those of you that want to hunt alone. For the one year anniversary of Phasmophobia, Kinetic Games has included a bunch of new updates for their standout success and one of them is allowing you to play offline, which just sounds like a nightmare right? I mean yeah, cool update but there is no way I'm being put in a haunted house by myself.

The patch notes that can be found on the Phasmophobia Steam page have a bunch of improvements outside of just: "Added an option to play offline singleplayer which won't connect you to the server." The team has also been working on this Anniversary update to include a journal overhaul - the tool that helps you identify and track the monsters you're hunting. There are also a bunch of smaller quality of life improvements to the game from the VR controls, to how failing a mission will affect your funds.
It's great to see Phasmophobia doing so well for Kinetic Game, especially as it's still in Early Access so it's not even considered launched yet. I can't imagine it would be too long before we hear that a full release of the game is on the horizon, right?
