Netflix's 'Squid Game' Director Teases Series Two Plot With A Killer Idea

Everyone right now is talking about the majorly successful Netflix series Squid Game. The show has taken the world by storm, as everyone is discussing its games, plotline, and twists and turns. And although the director of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk said that a season two sounded rather exhausting just weeks ago, he's already teasing his ideas for what the plot of season two would be.

In an interview with The Times, via Kotaku, Hwang Dong-hyuk has already started discussing the next phase of the show, and it doesn't sound like it'll take place inside the games again. From now on we'll be discussing spoilers so if you've not finished the show, you may want to do so before reading on.

Dong-hyuk seems interested in pursuing a story about the police rather than the people on the inside. During the series, contestants and others approach the police several times to assist with the investigation into the games but they don't lift a finger to help. In the climax of the series, The Frontman doesn't even seem worried that the authorities had been potentially notified of the island and its goings-on.

It seems Dong-hyuk is interested in exploring the corruption of the police and why they're so slow to act even when people are missing. This also opens the door to explore why The Frontman is even there in the first place after it's revealed that he both previously played the game, and is a former police officer.

The director says to The Times, "While I was writing season one, I thought about the stories that could be in season two if I get to do one-one would be the story of the Frontman... I think the issue with police officers is not just an issue in Korea. I see it on the global news that the police force can be very late on acting on things-there are more victims or a situation gets worse because of them not acting fast enough. This was an issue that I wanted to raise. Maybe in season two I can talk about this more."
