Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the upcoming revival of the cartoon that became a staple of innumerable childhoods of the '80s, just got a new trailer - and it is incredible.

"I'm Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe," said Kevin Smith when Revelation was announced in the summer of 2019. "In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!"

What he said. Look, I'm not an '80s baby. The depth of my knowledge of He-Man extends to that HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA meme. However, I do know a good trailer when I see one, and this latest glimpse into the revamped realm of Eternia is precisely that. The quality of the animation is the shining star of the show here, with eye-popping effects in the many, many, many skirmishes. Furthermore, this iteration of He-Man centres on Teela as the protagonist who will seek out the missing Sword of Power, revitalising the established conventions of the original toy line and cartoon.

Check out the trailer right here, featuring the talents of Mark Hamill, Chris Wood and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Yes, she's the actress who played Buffy and, more importantly, Daphne in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies.

The show is intended to be accessible to all audiences, so if you're a mega fan of He-Man or if you're like me and never encountered the iconic cartoon, it should draw every type of viewer into the fantasy world. What's more is that the cast is absolutely star-studded. From that trailer, you're likely to have recognised Mark Hamill's voice as Skeletor and honestly, that is a match made in heaven. Chris Wood, known for The Vampire Diaries, is playing Prince Adam and He-Man and Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing Teela. Man-At-Arms and Evil-Lyn are portrayed by Liam Cunningham and Lena Headey respectively - who have both starred in Game Of Thrones together.

All in all, the new TV show is looking very good and should certainly be on your watch list if you're hankering after an exciting show to fill your evenings with. We'll keep you in the loop with that CGI Masters of the Universe show that is also in the works with Netflix too, as the two shows were announced in 2019. Fingers crossed that we're due an update on that front soon.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation arrives on Netflix in two parts. The first five episodes will debut on July 23rd, so mark your calendars.
