'Mortal Kombat 11' Reveals Spawn In Brutal New Trailer

We've known that Spawn would be coming to NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat 11 for a while now and, thanks to a new reveal trailer, it doesn't look like we have much longer to wait. Spawn will available via Early Access on March 17, with the character's full release coming a week later on March 24.

You can check out the reveal video below (the YouTube link is here for anyone not seeing the embed) which shows off Spawn's impressive moves. Employing his lethal chains and an invisibility ability, Spawn makes short work of his opponents and quickly switches to a spiked club, axe, or a sword when they get within melee range. And, of course, there's plenty of gore in there to keep even the most die-hard Mortal Kombat fans happy.

If you watch right through until the end of the trailer, you'll also get a look at a few new skins that are heading to Mortal Kombat 11 alongside Spawn. There are new looks for Erron Black, Nightwolf and Jacqui Briggs, with the latter getting her own Spawn-inspired skin.

Spawn is the creation of comic book artist Todd McFarlane, and is the sixth DLC character to head to Mortal Kombat 11, joining the likes of Nightwolf, The Joker, Shang Tsung, Terminator T-800 and Sindel. McFarlane himself seemed to be incredibly excited about Spawn's inclusion in the franchise and took to Twitter last month (thanks, VG24/7) to reveal his character model, ahead of the reveal trailer.

"MORTAL KOMBAT SPAWN REVEAL!! FINALLY I CAN SHOW IT!!" McFarlane says in the tweet. "Spawn Mortal Kombat action figure is an incredibly detailed (true McFarlane Toys fashion) 7-inch scale figure designed with 22 points of ultra-articulation and can achieve full range posing. COMING MARCH 2020!"

In related Mortal Kombat news, Warner Bros. recently announced that they'd be adding crossplay for Mortal Kombat 11 - although it's been rebranded as Krossplay, because, why not? This will allow PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players to play against one another and while it's still being tested in beta, it shouldn't be long before it's officially rolled out.
