He's quite Taken with the idea.

It's certainly an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. Season two of The Mandalorian, which wrapped up late last year, proved throughout its run that it has no problem ripping opening the toy box and pulling from all corners of Star Wars lore - but in a way that works and actually serves the larger story... naming no films.

With last year's announcement that there are no less than ten new Star Wars projects heading to Disney+ over the next few years, it's probably safe to assume that there'll be a little something for everyone. Personally, I've got my eye firmly on the upcoming Obi Wan Kenobi series, which is set to bring back Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen as Obi Wan and Anakin Skywalker respectively.

I'm not one of those people who think the prequels were these misunderstood gems - they were crap. I do believe, however, that the relationship between Obi and Anakin was one of the few things that really worked in the prequels, and I can't wait to see McGregor and Christensen have another crack at those roles with (what I hope will be) much better writing.

But why stop with Obi Wan and Anakin? Why not go the whole hog and make Obi Wan Kenobi a full-on prequel reunion and reintroduce Liam Neeson's Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn? Fans will of course remember that Obi Wan's former teacher met the wrong end of a lightsaber in The Phantom Menace, but in Star Wars anything is possible - and Neeson himself is game to come back.

Speaking to Collider, Neeson admitted he hadn't heard anything about the Obi Wan Kenobi series, which is scheduled to start filming in March (pandemic permitting). When asked if he knew how much fans wanted to see him back in the role, he replied, "I'll be honest with you: I haven't heard that at all."

Fortunately, when pushed on whether he'd actually want to come back, Collider noted that Neeson cracked a smile and answered: "Sure, I'd be up for that, yeah." Not quite the enthusiastic energy you might have hoped for... but never say never in the Star Wars universe, right?
