KFC Just Announced The KFConsole, With Its Own Chicken Chamber

“The last thing we want is anyone to go hungry while playing!”

This is the KFConsole, a teeny tiny PC from the fast food chain that's able to run games at 4K resolutions 240 frames per second, and keep your chicken warm in a dedicated "Chicken Chamber."

Yes, it's real. It's odd that KFC has collaborated with Cooler Master, a hardware manufacturer specialising in CPU coolers and cooling pads, to create the machine that aims to keep your chicken warm, but it's gotten results. The unique cooling system actually circumvents heat and airflow towards the chamber, while ensuring that the rest of the console stays cool.

Crispy hot chicken on demand, as you wander through medieval England or set new records in rally driving. Sounds super. "The KFConsole has been custom built with the gamer at the front of mind. The last thing we want is anyone to go hungry while playing!" said global PR and influencer manager for Cooler Master, Stephen James.

The KFConsole runs on an Intel Nuc 9 extreme compute element, letting the machine focus on delivering buttery smooth performances which isn't at the expense of the available space. In fact, it has two Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SSDs at its disposal, so it has much, much more storage space than either the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5. I guess the only downside of this is that it's not clear whether the storage is expandable, which it is in the case of Microsoft's and Sony's doodads. Additionally, it boasts an Asus GPU on launch, but this is swappable for whichever GPU you like. Ergo, "the KFC console will stay the most powerful console for generations to come."

This is bizarre, actually. How are we able to compare a console produced by KFC and Cooler Master with the consoles produced by two of the biggest technology companies in the world? What's happening right now? KFC had dipped its toes into the gaming sphere before, with the dating simulator I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Licking Good Dating Simulator and Rainbow Six Siege tournaments sponsored by the fast food chain. This, however, is a different bucket of chicken, and appears to suggest that KFC is branching out into another industry, and with earnest.

"Moving forward from our initial teaser campaign earlier this year, we're so pleased to finally give the fans exactly what they wanted; making the KFConsole a reality," said Mark Cheevers, PR & Social Media Lead at KFC UK & Ireland. "We all know the console war is vicious, but we're very confident in the KFConsole as our flagship entry. This machine is capable of running games at top-level specs, all on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience... what's not to like? If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they'd be welcome to get in touch."
