Bethesda’s ‘Starfield’ Is A PC And Xbox Exclusive, New Report Claims

Microsoft's acquisition seems to be paying off already

Jeff Grubb, a games industry journalist, has claimed that Starfield, Bethesda's space adventure IP that's in development, will be a PC and Xbox exclusive. Following the Bethesda / Zenimax acquisition, Microsoft does now seem to be reserving the games made by Bethesda for their systems alone.

Starfield was announced back in 2018 and we've heard very little about the game from Bethesda since then. It's described as a "new space epic" and will be the first new franchise the company has worked on in twenty-five years. Other than that, there have been leaks here and there showing in-game images, but even with some images finding their way into the public domain, there is very little information known about the game.

In case you missed the announcement for Starfield back in 2018, or you want to jog your memory, you can watch the announcement video below...

Of course, Starfield is now deep into development - some are expecting news about the game to arrive at E3 this year. However, it now seems confirmed that the game will not come to PlayStation consoles after Jeff Grubb's tweet. It reads, "Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that."

Apparently, Grubb has confirmed this and even without an official statement on this from Xbox, Bethesda, or Microsoft, this news is likely true. We've previously had confirmation that Bethesda is making games that are exclusive to PC and Xbox. It just wasn't known if Starfield would be included in that, as its announcement came before the ZeniMax acquisition.

This is certainly at least mildly annoying to PlayStation gamers - exclusives often create rifts between fans. Well, Sony lovers, here is a small consolation prize of some cool PlayStation freebies including double XP for Call of Duty Warzone next week.
