A recent leak suggests that Halo Infinite's multiplayer will be going free-to-play in a first for the series, putting it toe-to-toe with popular titles like Call Of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends and Fortnite.

As reported by Eurogamer, a listing on the Smyths Toys website for the game detailed the as-yet unannounced multiplayer as a "groundbreaking free-to-play multiplayer experience". Of course this is not an official announcement from Microsoft or 343 Industries, but it sounds pretty much on the money to me.

The listing itself has since been pulled from the site, but an archive of the page can still be found here via Google's cache. According to the page, the game will also run at 120fps, and have "greatly reduced load times", too.

A leaker known as Klobrille (who has a track record of leaking Halo infinite info before their official releases) has taken to Twitter to reinforce the leak, saying that the multiplayer will indeed be free-to-play and will incorporate some kind of a battle pass system.

In other Halo Infinite news, devs 343 Industries have recently responded to the - how can I put this delicately - not so enthusiastic reaction to the game's debut gameplay trailer. Fans weren't exactly blown away by the graphics (or lack thereof) of the much anticipated return to the Halo universe.

Here's hoping that come the game's release date (which we still don't know) they'll have had time to fix up and look sharp. Halo Infinite will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Windows PC.
