Remember the other day when we reported on dataminer @thethiny, who'd dug up some interesting files relating to future Mortal Kombat 11 DLC? Well, they've only gone and done it again, uncovering more potential treasure in game files most of us never think to look at. And this time, they've pulled out some promising additions to Mediatonic's phenomenal multiplayer knockabout, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

According to a new tweet from @thethiny, based on a little Fall Guys datamining, the smash-hit battle-royale - seven million sold on Steam, the most-downloaded game on PS+ ever - is set to receive local multiplayer to complement its online-focused fun and games. Which I'm pretty sure no player of the game would say no to, right? I'm glad we agree.

Split-screen multiplayer, with bots added to fill up the bean count (look, we've been through this, they're beans), has been a long-requested feature for the game. Well, I say long-requested - the game only came out at the start of August. But it's something that Fall Guys' masters at Mediatonic have certainly received requests for - and now it looks as if it's being added, in a future update.

Speaking of future Fall Guys updates: season two of the game was revealed during this week's Gamescom Opening Night: Live stream, and you can catch up with everything it's promising in our report, here. Clicking a link too much effort for you? Fine. It's going (fantasy) medieval. Knights. Wizards. Dragons. Stuff like that. Should be a laugh. Usually is.

Mediatonic aren't yet able to reveal when season two is coming, so it could be that this local multiplayer update arrives alongside it - we certainly wouldn't mind the option of offline play, even if it means taking our chance's with the game's (surely wholly chaotic) AI. You can be sure that we'll update you when the second season does have a release date, because if our stats tell us anything right now, it's that a whole lot of you love this silly, silly game. And we do not blame you.
