'Fable' Reboot Will Use One Of The Most Impressive Game Engines Around

A new Fable game was the worst kept secret in the industry not long ago. Although Playground Games hadn't confirmed that it would be making a new Fable title, rumours, leaked artwork, and more all revealed that we'll be seeing Albion once more in the not too distant future. Playground Games is known mainly for its work on the Forza series, and Fable (despite being a very different sort of game) is being built in the ForzaTech Engine.

Spotted by Dark Side Of Gaming, a new job listing for Turn10 Studios has revealed that ForzaTech will be the driving force behind Fable despite its origins in powering a completely different type of game. It seems that the engine is being adapted to be able to comfortably develop an RPG, but we should at least expect pretty roads and trees from the experience.

The job listing details that the selected applicant will "have a major impact on 3 AAA titles in development across 2 beloved Xbox franchises" which will be Forza and Fable of course. It continues, "ForzaTech is the engine, tools, and pipelines that drive both the Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon series of games. In addition to adding new features like ray tracing to support the next console generation, we are also enriching the toolset to support an open-world action RPG - Fable."

Turn10 Studios is the team developing and adapting ForzaTech for Playground Games, it seems, and it needs at least one more software engineer to help create the right base for other developers to work in. If you're interested in applying to the job and you want to see all the qualifications required to apply - here is the job listing on the Microsoft careers page.
