Everyone stay calm, but somehow microtransactions are leaking into real life. Disney's new Spider-Man ride in California will include the ability to shoot webs when riding - but if you want better webs, you'll have to pay a bit extra. Though at least with these microtransactions, you get a little keepsake.
According to GameSpot, Disney will be releasing toys with the launch of the Spider-Man ride Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, which will "customise" your experience of the attraction. For $35-60 USD, riders will be able to buy wearable toys that attach to their wrist that will upgrade their powers as they experience the Marvel attraction.

Fans of Marvel characters are encouraged to buy the $35 WEB Power Band that features "an attraction mode that unlocks multi-fire webs". Then, if you want to alter these powers further, riders can buy additional $30 extensions. These extra WEB Tech pieces will allow you to add either Spider-Man- or Ghost Spider-inspired electro-dynamic web-slinging to your Power Band, or the Iron Man- and Rescue-inspired Repulsor Cannons.

Not all the fun is reserved for people that pay for the WEB merch - you can experience the ride without these features and are still able to fire a web. But the really cool stuff is for those who pay extra. Which, yes, does sound a lot like the way in-game microtransactions work, right?
Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure is opening on June 4, 2021, inside the Avenger Campus area of Disney's California Adventure. Honestly, the campus, so far, looks incredible and Disney does know how to add a little magic to many of its attractions. More recently we've seen how the Disney Imagineers have somehow managed to create a realistic extending lightsaber for the park, and it's stunning.
