CD Projekt Red and Netflix have revealed that they are teaming up on an official Witcher convention - WitcherCon. The two companies have both famously worked with Andrzej Sapkowski's books to create a show and a game series, and now they've come together to celebrate all things Geralt-related with WitcherCon. The online celebration will happen on July 9 on Netflix itself, and we're not exactly sure what we'll be seeing at the con however, it won't be a new Witcher game reveal.

CD Projekt Red has already addressed the expectation that the developers could be announcing a new Witcher game - this is not going to happen. The website for the event mentions a few of the features WitcherCon will have and directly tells fans to not get their hopes up about a game announcement.

If you're looking to go away this summer, why not have a look at why Skellige could be your perfect travel destination...

The post says "WitcherCon is a global virtual celebration of The Witcher! This digital convention will be streamed on both Netflix and CD Projekt Red's YouTube and Twitch channels and will be available for co-streaming. Watch the worlds of CD Projekt Red's The witcher video games and The WitcherNetflix series come together for an event full of surprises and exclusive first looks. Get ready for:

  • "Deep dives into the making of The Witcher games, live-action series, anime film, and merchandise, including exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
  • "Interactive panels spotlighting the people who brought The Witcher to life in-game and on-screen, featuring breaking news from the Netflix series and never-before-seen reveals from across The Witcher franchise.
  • "Expert explorations into the lore, legends, monsters, and origins of the Continent.

"In case you're wondering, no new Witcher game will be announced at WitcherCon, but there are still lots of reasons to tune in! Look out for the full schedule reveal coming soon!"

It's a shame that we're not going to hear about a new Witcher game, but it certainly makes sense - CDPR has to focus on its newest release Cyberpunk 2077. Everyone remembers the messy launch of the game, from getting pulled from PlayStation storefronts to the glitchy police force. The developers obviously have a priority in making sure that the game has reached its full potential before moving on.
