'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Is Teasing A Major Event Today

New clear days?

Things are really starting to heat up in Call Of Duty: Warzone. The latest update for the free-to-play battle royale finally opened up a few of the maps mysterious bunkers... though this somehow managed to raise more questions than it answered.

Players who've managed to find the special keycards that grant access to the bunkers have reported finding a few crates full of loot, a message in morse code seemingly left by the Russians, and even more locked doors. Dataminers have since managed to break further into the underground complex, where they've discovered Cold War-era planes, unarmed nukes, and a big red button.

But if you were in any doubt that something serious is about to go down in Warzone soon, look no further than this recent message from the Call Of Duty app. Users with the official app installed have received a notification teasing an event for Warzone. An event that looks to be coming today (May 21st).

The notification, as shared by CharlieIntel, seems to be a vague warning of sorts. It's not entirely clear what's happening, but a serious threat seems to be making its way to Verdansk. The message, which you can see above, states "timing of meeting unknown - suspected for 21 MAY". It also references a priority call with "TARGET DENVER", though as far as I can see nobody is entirely sure who - or what - this is supposed to be.

The internet is obviously swirling with theories right now, but most seem to agree that whatever is happening is connected to the underground bunkers - and very possibly the nukes hidden within. A lot of fans reckon that these nukes could go off across Verdansk, essentially leaving us with a completely overhauled map as we enter Season 4.

Fortnite has certainly done this kind of thing before, and we already know Infinity Ward has spoken of plans to adopt a similar approach as Warzone continues. A large-scale event that transforms the map isn't completely impossible.

Others reckon that whatever is happening in Warzone is actually Activision's way of announcing the next Call Of Duty game, which multiple reports have now claimed is Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This would tie in with a lot of what's been found in the bunkers so far, as well as the previous reports that Warzone will eventually get a Cold War-themed map to tie in with the new game.

Whether we get an announcement, a game-changing event, or both today remains to be seen. You'll certainly want to keep your eye on Warzone for the rest of the day though, that's for sure.
