It's happening again.

Activision and Treyarch have shared the first in-depth look at zombies in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it looks like we're in for the biggest and most violent Zombies mode to date.

The gore-soaked debut trailer promises a next-generation Zombies experience complete with a new story, new characters, and entirely new ways to play. With that said, we saw more than a few nods to the past in the footage - including a glimpse of what I'm certain was the fan-favourite Ray Gun, as well as one or two familiar maps.

See for yourself below.

Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops Cold War zombies will combine classic mechanics with entirely new features. Expect to see the likes of Pack-A-Punch, round-based survival, fan-favourite perks, and the mystery box. In addition, you can also look forward to cross-gen and cross-platform multiplayer, and unified battle pass progression with Black Ops Cold War core multiplayer and Call Of Duty: Warzone.

Oh, and you can expect plenty of post-launch content over the course of the year. Here's hoping that Treyarch packs in plenty of classic maps and weapons, as well as some kind of over-arching narrative for the hardcore fans to dig into. We know how Zombies fans love to hunt for Easter eggs.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
launches on November 13th, but before that, there's been talk of zombies paying a visit to Warzone. Last week, dataminers uncovered evidence of a Zombie Royale mode which, according to various voice clips dredged up from in-game files, is a limited-time mode that sees players come back as zombies rather than go to the Gulag after dying.

It also sounds as if zombified players have a chance to become human again by finding and consuming enough flesh - presumably by downing and eating up any surviving enemies.

Warzone's special Halloween event kicks off on October 20th, and we're bound to see some undead start to shuffle towards Verdansk before then. Keep your eyes peeled. That's just how zombies prefer to eat them.
