Gamer Thinks 'RDR2' Is Comparable To The Pyramids, Gets Torn Apart By Commenters

It's impressive, we just don't know it's the pyramids impressive.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most technically brilliant games of all time. We didn’t see another world so vast and detailed until February 2022 when FromSoftware dropped its mammoth Elden Ring.

It’s easy to see that when making the vast Western, Rockstar knew exactly what it was doing. Well written characters, when paired with the game's excellently paced story, side quests and an open world full to the brim, it’s no wonder that RDR2 often makes it into lists of the best games of all time. It is an absolutely astounding achievement by the developers and one of, if not the most ambitious gaming project the world had seen by that point.

If you like Red Dead Redemption 2 then check out our video of the best wins and fails below.

While we can show our appreciation for how impressive RDR2 is, we do at least have some perspective in placing it within the grand scheme of things. However, one lad on Resetera didn’t have quite the same restraint.

In their post titled “Am I crazy for thinking that Read Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most impressive large-scale projects ever created by humankind?” our cowboy fanboy puts to the crowd that RDR2 may indeed be a more impressive feat than the building of the pyramids. In their post they write:

“So this thought has been percolating in my brain since I first played RDR2 in 2018. I seriously believe this thing is one of the most impressive large-scale projects humans have ever created. On par with the Great Wall, the pyramids, the Hoover Dam, or whatever. Just the vastness of this virtual space and simulation within that is rendered in such jaw-dropping mind-blowing detail is unlike anything else, - The fact that thousands of people could come together to create this world is just mind-boggling to me.”

Unsurprisingly the comments shut them down in surprisingly polite ways. One user comments “I perhaps wouldn’t put it in those terms but I do think it’s probably the single most impressive video game I’ve ever played.” While another jokes “The moon landing might be a close second”.

The response can be summed up with this comment though:

“The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed around 2600 BC and still stands to this day. 4600+ years separate us from the creation of that one single feat of engineering and it's still just as awe-inspiring now as it was then. No one will remember Red Dead Redemption 2 in 100 years, let alone 4600. People won't be taking trips to go see it and be struck with splendour at what mankind achieved with primitive tools. Like, seriously, this is a question?”

It is a lot cheaper to go take Arthur to the old Midwest than it is to pop over to Giza though, so that’s a nice bonus.
