For better or for worse, Fortnite is getting a first-person mode later this year which means we might finally get to see the inside of the battle-bus.

Fortnite, the most popular battle royale game ever to exist, is currently in the middle of its latest season, Myths & Mortals, which has seen the third-person shooter clash with Greek mythology.

Take a look at the new season trailer for Myths & Mortals below.

While the latest season is very enjoyable, fans have a bright future ahead of them with further updates, one of which will introduce a first-person mode to the game.

This was announced as part of the State of Unreal livestream over at GDC, and it’s confirmed the mode is planned for sometime around the end of the year.

Additional planned features include adding Fall Guys assets to the game to create obstacle courses, proximity chat, text chat, item trading, and custom quests.

Of course, the first-person mode does raise a few questions, such as whether it’ll simply be another option for players to switch to while playing or if it’ll be an entirely separate mode similar to Zero Build.

Fortnite, as we all know, combines shooting opponents with building enormous forts for protection and getting the drop on enemies, and doing all of that from a first-person perspective does sound like it’ll get a bit confusing.

The clip shown at GDC does appear to be higher quality than players get when simply aiming down the sights of weapons, which implies it’ll be part of its own mode to compensate for the change in perspective.

An exact release date for the update wasn’t shared, though players can expect to finally see the inside of the battle bus and get closer to the action than ever before by the end of 2024.

It’ll likely become a permanent feature in the game, similar to Zero Build and the recent LEGO mode.
