It is hard to believe that the Final Fantasy franchise has existed since the 1980s and still continues to capture fan’s hearts to this day.
Originally developed by Square before the company merged with Enix, making, you guessed it, Square Enix, the franchise has gone from strength to strength and almost 20 main instalments have been released over the past four decades.
However, with so many instalments, there are bound to be some bad eggs amongst the bunch and that includes one spin-off title which is set to be delisted for good later this year.
First released back in 2015, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a free-to-play RPG developed by Alim and published by Square Enix for iOS, Android and Amazon Fire devices.

However, in 2024, Brave Exvius was delisted in the United States and Europe and although it has remained live in Japan until now, it seems as though its time is up as it is set to be removed from mobile stores as of 31 October 2025.
Although Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius managed to rack up over 40 million downloads, its 73 user score on Metacritic showed just how average the mobile game was so it is perhaps no surprise that Square Enix is finally giving up with it.
Despite the company trying its hardest, even going as far as to introduce a Just Cause 3 crossover to the game, this Final Fantasy entry could not stand alongside the others in the franchise.
However, ahead of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius shutting down for good, Square Enix will be holding a Grand Finale Campaign for the game as a way for Japanese players to say goodbye.

“Thank you very much for always playing Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius,” Square Enix’s statement reads.
“We have decided to end the service as of 12:00 on Friday, October 31, 2025. We sincerely thank all of you who have played with us for such a long time. Until the end, we will be holding the ‘Grand Finale Campaign’ as a token of our gratitude, and after the end, while it will be limited to the Apple/Google versions, we plan to distribute a Memorial Edition. We would be delighted if you could continue to enjoy it until the very last moment.”
It is always a sad time when games are delisted, even if their popularity left a lot to the imagination, but hopefully Japan will have time to say goodbye to Brave Exvius courtesy of its farewell event.
