Electronic Arts have steadily been dropping updates on the upcoming FIFA 23 in recent days. Perhaps most importantly, EA announced that this year’s cover will star female player Sam Kerr alongside returning fan-favourite Kylian Mbappé. This marks the first time that FIFA has had a female cover star - and it’s about damn time.
Just yesterday, EA also confirmed that FIFA 23 will not feature the Russian national football team nor Russian club teams following the country's invasion of Ukraine. Russian teams were previously pulled from FIFA 22, so this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. One thing we didn’t see coming though, is a FIFA and Marvel team up.

Twitter account FUT23News has shared artwork teasing a ‘Heroes’ FIFA 23 and Marvel team up, adding that the collaboration was confirmed by EA. Technically, EA are yet to comment on the leak but the image was found in Google Images and the source led you straight to EA’s website so it does indeed seem like the image is official and went live earlier than scheduled.
I don’t claim to be an expert on all things FIFA, but I don’t think I’d be wrong in saying that a Marvel collaboration is somewhat unexpected. The ‘Heroes’ image appears to be linked to FIFA 23’s Ultimate Team mode which allows players to build their dream squad.

The FUT web page reads, “Bring football’s fan favourites back to the pitch in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team as FUT Heroes, with special items that represent the memorable moments in their career that made them cult legends.” So far, three players are listed: Ricardo Carvalho, Park Ji-Sung, and Yaya Touré.
There’s no mention currently of how Marvel ties into all of this outside of the leaked promotional image and the abundant use of the word ‘hero,’ but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
