breaking news

Fallout’s second season has concluded - and by all accounts, it does look as if it’s set to be followed by a surprise game launch.
It just may not be quite what fans of the acclaimed Bethesda franchise originally had in mind.
If you’ve been paying attention to online chatter, you’ll know that Fallout fans were convinced that Season 2 would end with a surprise game shadowdrop.
The theory was that either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas would receive a remaster, with a countdown linked to the series’ finale fuelling hype.

Unfortunately, no such shadowdrop landed; instead, the countdown simply resulted in the unlocking of an explorable version of House’s New Vegas penthouse.
Experience Fallout 4 On The Go
There is, however, a new Fallout release on the way, one that’s set to be unveiled during today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.
Hours ahead of that event, leaker billbil-kun has stolen Bethesda’s thunder, revealing that Nintendo Switch 2 users will soon be able to get their hands on physical copies of the previously confirmed Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition.
In a new report via Dealabs, billbil-kun stated that pre-orders for Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition’s physical copies on Nintendo Switch 2 will open today immediately following the Direct.

This is ahead of a 28 April release date, with the game retailing for €59.99 / $59.99. UK pricing is not yet available.
Unfortunately, billbil-kun is of the belief that Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition will be offered as a ‘code in a box’ which defeats the purpose of a physical purchase, if you ask me.
It’s One of Several Surprise Releases From Bethesda
The report goes on to add that the Direct will also see Indiana Jones and The Great Circle’s physical copies made available for pre-order.
These will supposedly launch on 12 May and will likely be offered in the game-key format, although this is unconfirmed.
The Great Circle retails slightly higher than Fallout 4, sitting at €69.99 / $69.99. Again, UK pricing is yet to be revealed.
Finally, Bethesda is set to confirm yet another physical edition of Skyrim. It just can’t help itself, can it?
Physical copies of Skyrim: Anniversary Edition are also anticipated to launch on 28 April. This one’s also thought to be the ‘code in a box’ format. Sigh.
Of course, I do have to urge you to take all of this information with a pinch of salt, but the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase is only a few hours away, so confirmation should arrive soon.
If you want to tune in, it takes place at 6am PT / 2pm GMT.
Admittedly, this reveal is probably going to disappoint Fallout fans who were perhaps hoping for something a tad more exciting following the end of Season 2.
They say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth, but I fear that’s exactly what the vast majority of fans are about to do.
