Well, this is very curious. Fallout fans have been left rather confused after a teaser for a sequel to New Vegas was seemingly found in Fallout 4. It disappeared just one day later which makes you think that perhaps we saw something Bethesda didn’t want us to just yet.
It’s an exciting time for the Fallout franchise. In case you missed it, Amazon is in the midst of creating a live-action adaptation which has been written by Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. In fact, the series wrapped filming last week so it stands to reason that it could debut on our screens later this year. HBO’s The Last of Us set the adaptation bar high, but the first teaser for the series looks very promising. Fans don’t just want a TV series though. They want a new Fallout game, and that game could be New Vegas 2.

As reported by PC Gamer, the tease was found on SteamDB after an update was made in Fallout 4’s backend over on Steam. If you didn’t know, this is typically where developers edit a game’s files ahead of an update or patch. The files are prepared before they go live to the public. In recent days, a new branch was added called ‘newvegas2’ but this was deleted just one day later. Admittedly, it’s not a lot to go on, but it’s certainly got fans wondering whether a sequel is cooking up.

This is all speculation for now, so do take this with a pinch of salt. The other possibility is perhaps we’ll finally get a remastered or remade version of Obsidian’s original Fallout: New Vegas. PC Gamer points out that this could be created in Fallout 4’s engine. We’re due to receive Fallout 4’s new-gen update this year. Perhaps there’ll be an added New Vegas scented bonus in there.
Less excitingly, it could just be a new Creation Club pack themed around New Vegas. That would be far less exciting but hey, it’s a crumb - and that’s better than nothing. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what Bethesda has in store.
