Along with The Elder Scrolls, the Fallout series is one of the crown jewel properties that Bethesda has to offer and fans are excited for when the next entry in the post-apocalyptic RPG series arrives.

The Fallout series has been going strong for well over 25 years since its inception back in 1997 long before it became a Bethesda-owned property. However, with the launch of Fallout 3 in 2008 (now under the Bethesda umbrella), the series became more mainstream and for some, this is the best game in the beloved series.

Check out the Fallout 3 trailer below!

Since the release of Fallout 3, this series has seen popular releases including Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 to name a few on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. I know that the latter game has a bad rep, but from what we hear, Fallout 76 is a much better game now than when it launched in 2018.

Naturally, fans cannot wait for the arrival of Fallout 5, despite not having a release date yet. All we know at the time of writing is that Bethesda has confirmed Fallout 5 and it will arrive after The Elder Scrolls VI. With that in mind, fans will have to be patient for Fallout 5 with its expected release being several years away. That being said, let’s assume that Fallout 5 is at least four to five years away, this will result in millions of gamers not being able to play the game.

The reason is that it won't be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, as it will be safe to assume that those platforms will be long dead by then. What’s more, there’s even a chance that by the time Fallout 5 is released, we’ll be in the PlayStation 6 and new Xbox generation. Oh, and let’s not forget the likelihood that Fallout 5 will be exclusive to PC and Xbox now that Microsoft owns Bethesda. On the bright side, if you haven't already, you’ve got years to upgrade your console to prepare.

There’s a chance that Microsoft might make Fallout 5 and even The Elder Scrolls VI available on PlayStation but we won't be holding our breath. For now, at least, it’s safe to assume that Fallout 5 will be released on PC and Xbox Series X|S, leaving PlayStation and previous-gen console owners behind.
