Over recent years, Fallout 5 has joined that heartbreaking list of games that feel as though they will never be released.
From Hollow Knight: Silksong to The Elder Scrolls VI and Bloodborne 2, Fallout 5 has cemented itself in the hall of fame of games that fans are desperate for but developers are seemingly hesitant to post updates for.
First announced back in 2021, Fallout 5 will, as you can probably guess, be the fifth instalment in the much-loved Fallout franchise and the first mainline entry since Fallout 4 was released in 2015.
With the latter expected to celebrate its 10-year anniversary this November, fans are hoping that this will give Bethesda ample opportunity to talk more about its sequel Fallout 5.

However, with the studio releasing scarce updates about the highly-anticipated RPG, said fans are starting to feel frustrated.
Things came to a head recently when Bethesda did in fact release an announcement regarding Fallout 5 but it was definitely not the update that fans wanted.
According to Bethesda, Fallout 5 has been “fully greenlit” which, put simply, means that it is still in the very early stages of development and could mean that it will be years until we finally see it released.
News of this update broke over on r/Fallout and it was not long before fans descended onto the comments to share their frustrations.

“It's a given it was going to be greenlit, now we just have to wait about 8 years for it to come out,” user RoyaleWhiskey shared.
“We'll have a real fallout before Fallout 5 comes out,” user Eliogarcia95 joked.
User hart37 summed it up when they said, “So basically it won't be done for at least 8 years if Starfield is anything to go by.
Christ we don't even have an update for TES VI yet and that was announced in 2018.”

It remains to be seen when Fallout 5 will officially be released but with the RPG only just being greenlit, it is safe to say that we should not expect it for many more years to come.
