New Fallout 4 players urged to immediately change one setting for best experience

Who knew this Fallout 4 trick?

Right now, in large part due to the success of Amazon Studios’ live-action Fallout series, Bethesda’s video game franchise has seen a massive surge in concurrent players both new and returning.

When the Fallout series launched on Amazon’s streaming service, it became an instant success, garnering scores of over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and quickly securing a renewal for a second season. Now, fans cannot get enough of the likes of Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas and even Fallout 76.

Check out the Fallout trailer below!

“As the sole survivor of Vault 111, you enter a world destroyed by nuclear war, every second is a fight for survival, and every choice is yours. Only you can rebuild and determine the fate of the Wasteland. Welcome home,” reads the synopsis of Fallout 4.

Even if you’re new or returning to Fallout 4, you still may have not known about this old-school trick of turning your Pip-Boy flashlight white while still maintaining the iconic green screen. A special shoutout goes to Reddit user neccoguy21 for this handy tip.

Let’s be honest, while it can look extra snazzy to have a different coloured flashlight, white illuminates the darkness more than most, especially when exploring dark and ruined buildings in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. However, seeing as changing the flashlight in Fallout 4 isn't represented by a numeric value, neccoguy21 explains how many clicks we’ll need to change the colour to white.

If your Pip-Boy screen is the standard green, using the RGB sliders in the HUD, from the right side, click R seven times, G zero times and B nine times. If your Pip-Boy screen is purple, set O to five, R twice (from the left), G seven times and B four times.

Neccoguy21 says that this colour setting should be universal for Fallout 4 across all platforms including PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Fallout 4 is out now and is available at no extra cost to subscribers of PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium and Xbox Game Pass.
