Fallout fans (well, a very specific subsection of Fallout fans) are very happy with at least one of the announcements from last night’s Fallout Day stream… even if large swathes of the community don't seem to thrulled with everything else that was showed off.
This week, Bethesda held a very special Fallout Day livestream, chocked full of announcements for upcoming releases and updates.
There was some new info about Amazon’s second season of the Fallout TV show, the announcement of a Fallout: New Vegas 15th Anniversary special release, new content for Fallout: Shelter, and, perhaps most notably, the reveal of a new “Anniversary Edition” of Fallout 4.
Now, overall, I’d say the response to the Fallout Day stream was pretty negative. Sure, it was better than nothing, but after years of rumours about Fallout 5, a Fallout: New Vegas remake and a Fallout 3 remaster, it’s easy to see why folks came away disappointed.

However, one little pocket of the internet is extremely excited about a specific bit of news that came from the event: the announcement of a Fallout 4 port for the Nintendo Switch 2.

As revealed during the livestream (and now visible over on the official Fallout website), the newly revealed Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition will be making its way over to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in 2026 (with a specific date to be revealed in the near future).
Unsurprisingly, the people over on the r/NintendoSwitch subreddit are pretty happy that they’ll finally be able to get their hands on Bethesda’s much-beloved 2015 RPG.

“Honestly this might make me buy a Switch 2. I skipped PS4 in favor of the Switch, and Fallout 4 is one of the games that I was most disappointed to miss out on”, commented user besuretodrinkyour.
“Fallout series is perfect for handheld. I found gunplay clunky in handheld on Cyberpunk. I ended up switching to a netrunner build. Fallouts VATS system is made for handheld play”, replied user Thekingchem.
Of course there are a lot of folks in the comments who are surprised that Nintendo Switch 2 ports for the likes of Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 weren’t announced alongside Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition, but if Todd Howard’s comments towards the end of the live stream are anything to go by… I wouldn’t be surprised if their remastered/remade versions find their way onto the system in the future.
Here’s hoping that the next Fallout Day stream treats us to something more juicy (for Bethesda’s sake).
