Okay, everyone stay calm. As reported by Variety, a live-action TV adaptation of Eragon is apparently early in development for Disney+.

Eragon is the first book in Christopher Paolini’s well-known young adult fantasy novel series, The Inheritance Cycle, and first released back in 2002. Variety claim that, according to their sources, Paolini will be one of the series’ co-writers, with Bert Salke as an executive producer. 20th Television will reportedly be producing.

Speaking of Disney+, we just got our first trailer for the animated series, I Am Groot - take a look below.

In case you were unfamiliar, in short, the novel series followed the story of a boy named Eragon, who finds an egg which hatches into a dragon, who he names Saphira. Eragon becomes a Dragon Rider, and sets out to defeat the evil King Galbatorix and in doing so, saves the land (Thanks, Variety). You know, all that good young adult fantasy stuff.

Given that the author has responded to the report on Twitter (albeit in a vague way), it seems that it's probably all true, which is super exciting. This won't be the first time that Eragon has been brought to screen, mind you, but it’ll hopefully be a lot more successful this time around. Back in 2006, an Eragon movie directed by Stefen Fangmeier was brought into the world, and with a Rotten Tomatoes critic rating of 16 percent, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how well it was received.

Uhhh … 😎 (Y’all are the best fans.) https://t.co/V1CLyePzw4

Given how beloved the book series was (and still is) though, it’s little wonder that fans have been hoping for better for some time and funnily enough, it was just last year that they began campaigning online for a Disney+ adaptation. After the success of the Snyder Cut campaign, people were clearly motivated to throw their wishes out there: “People deserve more than the disaster of 2006 @Disney,” Twitter user @BogomilValkov wrote at the time. “You have the rights, [the] community is begging for something like this and you literally have nothing to lose.”

Looks like fans are finally getting their wish granted, anyway - we’ll have to stay tuned for more news.
