If you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls and Red Dead Redemption, then this upcoming RPG might just pique your interest.
When it comes to crafting, wonderful, immersive and big open-worlds, it arguably doesn't get much better than what’s offered from the likes of Bethesda and Rockstar Games.
Over the years, whether it’s The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim, these worlds have offered countless epic adventures. The same can also be said for the likes of Grand Theft Auto and the Red Dead Redemption series from Rockstar Games.

It’s one of the main reasons why fans cannot wait for the arrival of GTA VI and The Elder Scrolls VI. However, one has a release date coming later this year (assuming it doesn't get delayed again), and the other was announced nearly eight years ago and still doesn't have a release date.
Before GTA VI arrives and most certainly before The Elder Scrolls VI, RPG fans can look forward to the release of Crimson Desert, developed and published by the indie studio Pearl Abyss.
Crimson Desert Is Huge
“Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game set in the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Embark on a journey to the Greymane Kliff and restore what has been lost. Explore uncharted lands, fight against threats that stand in your way, and discover the wonders the world has in store.”
From what I’ve seen in the gameplay trailers so far, it looks like Crimson Desert has the potential to be a fun RPG. Whether that actually is the case come launch, only time will tell.
Yet, as brought to our attention by the X account, Culture Crave, some additional details make Crimson Desert even more of an enticing prospect.

In a tweet, Culture Crave highlights that Crimson Desert has been in development for about seven years.
You can ride a dragon, bear, raptor and pilot a mecha. You can buy a house, bounty hunt, web-swing like Spider-Man and much more.
Arguably, more impressively, the map for Crimson Desert is said to be twice the size of Skyrim’s Tamriel and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2. It will also have explorable sky islands, perhaps
similar to the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Tears of the Kingdom.

The only snag, in my opinion, is that Crimson Desert is a single-player game only. Which is a shame, because it looks like it could be a fantastic multiplayer game.
Crimson Desert will be released on 19 March 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
