The Elder Scrolls 6 Hopefuls Think They Know The Game's Setting

Hammerfell or bust

It has been over seven years since Todd Howard first announced the development of The Elder Scrolls VI, and since then we've heard almost nothing regarding what the game's about or what the developer intends it to be.

Though Howard has been doing the media rounds recently around the release of the second season of Prime Video's Fallout adaptation, he wouldn't be drawn on how far along in development the next game is.

Though he did say that we would be getting our hands on it before the release of Fallout 5, that really doesn't narrow much down, given that game is likely still years away.

That leaves the details of the next Elder Scrolls game open to speculation from all comers, and some fans think they know exactly where Bethesda wants to take us next.

The Elder Scrolls VI in Hammerfell and High Rock

Over on Reddit, one user took to the forums to share their belief that the next location in the upcoming Elder Scrolls game will likely centre on Hammerfell, given where we've already been in the past and some clues in the wider games.

"I’m confident enough to say I think there’s a 90% chance that TES VI takes place in Hammerfell AND High Rock, although I would imagine the main story takes place mostly in Hammerfell. It’s POSSIBLE that it’s included in DLC, but I don’t even think that’s likely," the post reads.

Many of the comments agreed with the OP, with one saying, "Bethesda specifically added Redguard and Breton armors to Skyrim creation club, and they were very detailed Just about everything else they added was from pre-existing games. So that to me is a not so very subtle hint that the next game will have Hammferfell and High Rock."

"They'll have to scale down the cities in size and quality to go for quantity of cities in both provinces, plus having two provinces means putting 2 deep and different cultures and many subcultures which would end up doing justice to neither," another added.

The fact is that we don't really have any idea where Bethesda is planning to take us next in the Elder Scrolls series, but Hammerfell and/or High Rock are really interesting choices with a ton of existing background lore.

Sadly, with the release date seemingly still very far away, we won't be exploring the wonders they have cooked up for a while longer yet.
