Get a headstart on your adventure

If you’re eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’re not the only one. From early looks at the game and trailers showing off action-packed sequences, it is already setting tongues wagging and many believing it’ll be Game of the Year. Thankfully the wait isn’t too long, but if you’re hankering for some playtime, you won’t want to miss this.

Capcom has announced that you can start creating your character and first pawn today, and even better, it will be carried over to the full game upon release. So, you can get a taste of Dragon’s Dogma 2 sooner than you thought.

Will Dragon's Dogma 2 reach Game of the Year lists as predicted?

If you thought that Baldur’s Gate 3 had a hefty character creator, just wait until you see this. The Dragon’s Dogma 2 creator is so deep that just the human nose has 12 sliders for customisation, thanks for this tidbit, IGN. This is before looking into any of the other races - Elves and Beastren - both of which have some amazing design decisions behind them and can look any way you choose.

Speaking to IGN, director Hideaki Itsuno says of the character creator, “You could have your ideal character in mind, but you'd basically need to be an artist to form that character with your own hands, so that's where we had to begin when deciding how character creation would work.” As with so many RPGs nowadays, the creation of your character is incredibly important, not just from a gameplay standpoint, but also for our immersion.

Having such a detailed creator release early is a wonderful thing - at least we can spend several hours perfecting our protagonist now and when the game releases fully we can just dive straight into the action. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is out 22 March and will bring hundreds of hours of RPG goodness.
