Dr Disrespect's Game 'Deadrop' Getting Mixed First Impressions Online

Following the release of some gameplay footage, people have been flocking to Twitter to share their opinions on Dr Disrespect's game.

In case you were unaware, as well as being a very well known (and controversial) streamer, Herschel ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm is also one of the co-founders of a new game studio, Midnight Society.

The studio have been hard at work “building the best competitive PVP experience”, in the form of Deadrop, a “vertical extraction shooter (VES) for a new age of competitive multiplayer”. No comment on where the missing second “D” in that name has gone, but let’s roll with it.

Dr Disrespect has been comparing Deadrop to the upcoming Modern Warfare II - take a look at the latter below.

Anyway, recently, some gameplay clips from Deadrop appeared online for the first time, thanks to early supporters getting access to a tech demo, and people have been predictably vocal in expressing their opinions on it. The whole game had already set itself up to court controversy, since Dr Disrespect previously claimed that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II reveal trailer couldn’t match even a mere screenshot from his game. So, how does it compare, then?

Overall, it’s a very mixed bag: “The first build of Deadrop looks better than any Call of Duty in the past [five] years,” tweeted @3d3nFPS. “Have you even played any of the CODs in the last five years[,] meanwhile Deadrop looks like a [two] year old s**t it out of its ass,” replied @Rocketcar4786.

“Funny reading comments about the #DEADROP game from doc and company,” wrote @JGODYT. “Game is nowhere near the level of polish of the MW2 [footage] we've seen, but being honest [the] game is light-years ahead of where people actually expected it [to] be. Still a W for the doc since everyone is talking about it. Also, crazy to compare a game that is coming out in months vs one that will be years.”

There’s currently no release window set for Deadrop, so it could be a very long way away yet, but its rival Modern Warfare II will release on 28 October.
