Days Gone 2 petition has nearly 200k signatures

Don't hold your breath, though

Days Gone 2 is, as I'm sure you know, not actually happening any time soon. Or ever, in fact.

Back in 2020 it emerged that Sony rejected SIE Bend's original pitch for the open-world zombie sequel in 2019, not even that long after the original game launched on PlayStation 4.

The fact is Days Gone didn't get the best reviews, and its sales couldn't compete with other PlayStation IP. Bend has since been moved onto a new, currently unannounced IP - but the campaign for Days Gone 2 refuses to die. Kind of like a zombie, I guess.

One of the several fan petitions to make Days Gone 2 a reality has clocked in at nearly 200k signatures. Started by gamer Kanhai Raval in response to the news that Sony has no intention of making a sequel, the petition easily smashed its 150k goal and has started to make its way towards 200k.

It's slowed down somewhat, it's worth noting, but is still indicative of the passion fans have for this underrated PlayStation exclusive.

"There's millions of people who want Sony PlayStation to approve Days Gone 2," writes Raval. "And I want all the fans to sign this petition. They can't just pull the plug on such a amazing game that ended with a cliff hanger."

It's highly unlikely that anything will come of this petition, although I do remember saying the same thing about the Zack Snyder Justice League campaign, so what do I know?

And honestly, if campaigns like this achieve nothing else, it shows the people who put so much love and effort into these projects that their work is appreciated, and truly cared about. Not a bad result, all in all.
