The first Dark Souls game is one of my favourite games ever, I’ve replayed it more times than I can count and it just never gets old.

That’s why when I see an awesome update like this one I feel obligated to talk about it, as this update in particular is going to completely change the game.

Don’t get too excited as it is fan-made, FromSoftware hasn’t randomly updated one of its oldest games on a whim, as great as that would be

To put it briefly, Dark Souls Remastered is one of many FromSoftware games that you’ll soon be able to play in seamless co-op.

Seamless co-op is something that’s been added to many titles so far, as it worked really well as a genuine feature in Elden Ring and of course fans wanted to see it backported to previous soulsborne games too.

Typically to co-op in Dark Souls Remastered you’d have to go through the usual faff of placing summoning signs and hoping someone shows up, great when it works but frustrating when it doesn’t.

This mod will allow you to play the game from start to finish with your buddies, and it’s going to be perfect.

As you can imagine there’s been an extremely positive reaction to this, with X user Xenthos sharing the update in a post exclaiming “WHAT”

“Let this guy cook” added another user in the comments, with one more saying “always wanted to visit these games with a buddy”, making this a perfect expansion mod for them.

In an ideal world FromSoftware would remake the first Dark Souls game, and actually finish it this time, with seamless co-op included, but perhaps that’d be too big of an undertaking when the studio has other sequels to think about first.

Besides, Bloodborne is arguably more popular than the first Dark Souls game right now and should probably get the remake/remaster treatment first.
