Dark Souls 4 finally on the horizon, brace yourselves

The future is looking bright... or well, dark

Last night saw FromSoftware release its latest title Elden Ring Nightreign and despite having another Souls game to get their teeth stuck into, players are already hoping for more.

Luckily, more may be exactly what is on the horizon as FromSoftware’s owner has confirmed that its studios currently have over 20 games in development.

Could one of these be a Bloodborne remaster or perhaps Dark Souls 4?

The Elden Ring and Dark Souls owner Kadokawa Corporation recently revealed that it has 26 games in development in an earnings report (via Gamewatch and translated by Automaton).

The 26 games consist of 20 console games and 6 mobile entries and although we don’t yet know much about them, we know that they will be split across multiple companies.

One of which includes Action Game Maker, a follow-up to Gotcha Gotcha Games RPG development tool which was revealed back in July.

However, what many fans are hoping for is more Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

Despite director Miyazaki claiming that there were no “current plans” for more Elden Ring, publisher Bandai Namco may think differently as according to CEO Yasuo Miyakawa back in 2022, Elden Ring was merely the start of a brand-new franchise “beyond the game itself”.

Of course, now with Elden Ring Nightreign and the previous Shadow of the Erdtree DLC having been released, we can safely assume that this comment was true.

Although, what does this mean for the highly-requested Bloodborne remaster or a Dark Souls 4?

As of right now, neither of these projects have been announced but FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are at least aware of the calls from fans.

"I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port," Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously said, but "if I say I want one, I'll get in trouble."

However, with 20 console games currently in the works, we would very much hope that at least one of them was dedicated to Dark Souls or Bloodborne but I guess only time will tell.
