Cyberpunk 2077 sequel in development from team who made Phantom Liberty and 2.0 update

It's clear that Cyberpunk 2077 has been riding high in recent weeks. This is primarily down to two things; Update 2.0 and the DLC Phantom Liberty. Both of these updates to the game have revolutionised the title, saving it from years of bad word of mouth.
It comes as no surprise that CD Projekt Red was already planning a sequel - already teased in-game - but with this bounce back on the original game, they might be pushing the pedal to the metal. The good news? CD Projekt Red are using the development team who produced update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty to lead the development of the sequel.
CDPR chief creative officer, Adam Badowski, recently announced the sequel details on a call with investors. He was noted as saying, "This project is on a conceptual design level right now, and it's going to be designed by a team of veterans who were responsible for fine-tuning Cyberpunk 2077 and designing Phantom Liberty."

This shift makes a lot of sense. It's best to capitalise on the talent pool they have and prevent a launch like the last one. Badowski continued "We’re going to work out of North America, Vancouver and Boston locations, team leadership are already there. And late in 2024, we’re going to work with teams comprising several dozen people, while as a target, half of the developers are going to work out of northern US and the other half out of Poland.”
Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 must now be relishing the news. Phantom Liberty is one of the most well-received DLC packs of recent years, improving the base game in ways only imagined and allowing the game to be lauded in many ways.
The investor call also highlighted the sales of 2077 with CD Projekt Red CEO, Adam Kiciński, announcing that the game has sold over 25 million copies since its December 2020 launch. This means the game is selling faster than Witcher 3. One has to wonder how many of those units were sold since update 2.0 landed.
